About Me

JR Galindo, MA, LMHCA

He/Him/El

Hi, I'm JR Galindo, MA, LMHCA, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Mexican American therapist based in Washington State. I was raised in Yakima WA, where I developed a strong sense of community, resilience, and cultural pride that continue to guide my work today. As a first-generation Mexican American, I have a deep understanding of how culture, identity, and systemic inequities impact mental health.

I specialize in working with teens, adults, and families navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Through telehealth services offered in both English and Spanish across Washington State, I aim to make therapy accessible, inclusive, and tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Education and Experience

I earned both my Master’s degree in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology: Prevention and Treatment and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. My academic training emphasized evidence-based therapeutic approaches, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices, which continue to guide my work as a therapist today.

I completed my clinical internship at Sound Mental Health, where I provided therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults across school, clinic, and telehealth settings. During this time, I supported individuals and families in both English and Spanish, addressing a wide range of mental health needs and building strong therapeutic relationships rooted in empathy, respect, and trust.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade working at Seattle Children’s inpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU), where I supported children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric challenges. In my role as a mental health technician, I provided direct care, emotional support, and crisis intervention, while working closely with families and interdisciplinary teams to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. These experiences deepened my commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care and continue to shape the collaborative and culturally responsive approach I bring to therapy today.
